SVA Mechanical Electrical Engineers - DebtWorks, Frederick, Maryland

SVA provided mechanical/electrical/plumbing (M/E/P) engineering services for both the core/shell and tenant fit-out phases of this 84,000 square foot, two story building in Frederick, Maryland. The facility serves as the headquarters and call center for a consumer debt management firm. Office spaces consist primarily of open plan areas with systems furniture. The facility also includes a large Conference Room/Training Facility with raised floor which will facilitate temporary installation of computers for periodic training sessions for large portions of the staff. A large dining area with commercial kitchen and servery was also provided.

Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) is provided by eight (8) rooftop variable air volume units each serving one quarter of one (1) floor. VAV terminal units are fan powered boxes with electric heat for perimeter areas with cooling only boxes serving interior spaces. Supplemental 24 hour HVAC is provided by individual split system units in the central computer server room and telephone PBX room.

Lighting is primarily 2' x 4' fluorescent parabolic louver troffers. The power distribution system was designed to provide sufficient power capacity for a high concentration of computer work stations in this call center facility while mitigating the harmonic currents created by computers and electronic equipment through the use of K-rated transformers. Communication's closets and pathways were designed to facilitate present and future data networks including underground raceways to support a future building on the project site.
